Hard Enamel  vs  Soft Enamel 1. Soft Enamel Soft enamel color is lower than metal lines around it, the surface has a strong metallic sense of touch. Soft enamel products can be plated with any metal color or dyed with Pantone colors. Plating and dying are processed ahead of adding soft enamel colors. Soft enamel is relatively affordable and suitable for most pins,  badges, coins, medals, keychains, tags, cufflinks and other metal products.  2.Hard Enamel Hard enamel color and metal lines are almost at same height, surface of hard enamel products feels quite flat and smooth. Same as soft enamel, hard enamel  products can also be plated with different metal colors, such as nickel, silver, gold, brass, copper, rose gold... But hard enamel products cannot do dying color for  metal part. Because for hard enamel pin, the plating process comes after coloring, and before plating, there is a very important step that make it completely distinct from soft enamel - POLISHING, the function of polishing is to make the raised metal and hard enamel color at same plane, that’s the secret why hard enamel products has a smooth surface, while dying color should be processed before enamel color, so hard enamel products cannot do dye metal.  But there is no need to be disappointed, cause there is other craftsmanship could perfectly replace hard enamel to cooperate with dying metal --- it is IMITATION HARD ENAMEL ---process is similar to soft enamel, but surface effect is much more smooth.   Hard enamel is also suitable for most pins, badges, coins, keychains, medals, tags, cufflinks and other metal products. 1- customization options
